Alex Bormann MD, Maj, USAF (Ret) is founder and executive director of the non-profit Idaho Veterans Wellness Center, in Boise, Idaho. The first such organization of its kind, the IVWC offers non-clinical and peer-directed services for healing for veterans and families, ranging from an art-assisted therapy program developed by Dr. Bormann, to experiential activities provided by community partners, ranging from equine-assisted therapy to kayaking. Tai Chi and yoga are also available through community partners. Additionally, Dr Bormann provides medical advocacy services on request, accompanying veterans to medical appointments to ensure that all appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic questions are asked, and answered. Alex completed medical school at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, and psychiatry residency at University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, where he was commissioned in the USAF in 2001.
